Latch is now Mobile!

In 2019, SHIFT started  conversations with Avanoo to acquire the platform that we all know today as Latch. At the time, Avanoo had 60,000 users watching videos every week on a platform that was not mobile-friendly. 

It turns out that pre-pandemic, mobile optimization was a nice-to-have, not a must have. But with the rise of remote and hybrid work, mobile devices have become an absolutely indispensable part of people’s work lives. 

Now leaders have to find ways to meet people (employees and customers) where they are. And where they are…is on-the-go!

Today, our phones are our go-to for all things. We can take high quality photos and videos, download books, buy concert tickets, count our steps, connect with our loved ones, find a date, debate with strangers, and access information on anything under the sun.

Advances in technology combined with the move to remote and hybrid work have skyrocketed our everyday use of mobile phones.  In 2019, the average daily use was estimated to be 3 hours and 43 minutes and now it’s over 5 hours per day. 

Being fully functional while "on-the-go" affords us the opportunity for flexibility and productivity in ways that we’ve never had before.

Time is arguably the most elusive and powerful of all the scientific intangibles that shape our lives - and for most of us, the majority of our time is spent sleeping and working. 

Life in Numbers

And in addition to these activities, there’s the “in between” time - those 15 to 30 minute increments that are too short to start anything substantial and too long to do nothing. Typically this is time between meetings, standing in line, sitting in a doctor’s office, waiting at a red light (don’t text and drive!), or picking our kids up from school. 

One of the things that our Latch end users love the most is that it’s an easy way to get what they need and get it fast. It takes less than 15 minutes to take a quick survey, watch a video, and answer two simple questions. 

Because of this use case and the request from clients that needed a way to meet their field employees where they are, we accelerated the product roadmap to ensure the same simple, quick, and engaging experience with Latch on mobile.

Effective today, Latch now utilizes responsive web design (RWD) ensuring that the experiences changes dynamically based on the screen size and orientation. In addition, Latch is now intentionally optimized for superior performance on mobile.

To get this exciting news out to end users, we will push a video through Latch on Wednesday, June 21st.  If you’d prefer to message it yourself, let us know and we’ll provide a template that you can use.  

Now your employees can fill those “in between” times with their weekly Latch launches instead of mindlessly scrolling Instagram.

That time can be spent on valuable connections with their peers and you, from the convenience of their phone, wherever they are, whenever it’s convenient for them.
