Can you believe we just celebrated the 4th of July?
With the first half of the year under your belt, this is a great time to take a step back and reassess key events that happened from January to June. What were the lessons learned? And what were some of the highlights thus far?
At entreQuest, using this time to rest and recharge is essential. I task our team to reflect on the things that really matter and the lessons we should apply to the next half of the year. Hopefully, this post moves you to take on this thought process too.
For me, from a “highlights” perspective, this has been one of the most exhilarating, humbling and exciting periods of not just my professional life, but my personal life as well:
- Baby - A few days before ringing in the New Year, my wife and I had our second child, James Joseph. He is a bundle of joy and we could not be more blessed to have him.
- Book - As many of you know, we launched a book! And not just any book, a best selling book! Grow Regardless debuted #1 on Barnes & Noble, sat at the top of The New York Times best sellers list in between Dan Pink and Malcom Gladwall, hit the lists for USA Today and Amazon, and was #1 on The Washington Post’s list.
- Bowl - In February, I was able to cross something off of my dad’s bucket list… we saw the Baltimore Ravens WIN the Super Bowl in New Orleans!
- Billion Dollar Clients - We have also had the privilege of being brought in to work with three, really fun, billion-dollar organizations. This is a testament to the applicability of eQ and “grow regardless” to businesses of all sizes.
- Big Speech - I was recently invited to be the keynote speaker at Patterson High School’s 100th anniversary graduation ceremony. Speaking at my alma mater was a monumental honor and it was great to go back to where it all began. The theme of my speech was, “If you can do it once, you can do it again!” Click below to see the video!
If nothing else, my theme for Patterson’s 2013 graduates is what I’d like you to take away from reading this today: You've done it once and now you have the opportunity to do it again, but even better. Just as I told the students, you've beaten the odds and made it through the first six months of 2013…now what are you going to do to make it happen again?
