The relationship between productivity and happiness has been put under a microscope in recent years, as people fight to have it all.
Managing time wisely is a struggle for many, especially with the added factor of multitasking. A tool I currently use, and which has made a profound difference in my ability to start, and complete, the most important tasks is the Productivity Planner. Now, it may sound like a overly simplistic answer to this problem, but let's back up a few months and I think you'll understand…
This past April, I was in Ojai, California for MastermindTalks 2016 hosted by Founder, and friend, Jayson Gaignard. If you aren’t familiar with MastermindTalks, I’ll preface by saying their construct is for entrepreneurs who value legacy over currency and place a huge emphasis on not only working on their business, but on themselves.
Over the course of the weekend, there were a number of breakouts that focused on becoming the best version of yourself. For me, this concept really clicked while meeting UJ Ramdas, the Co-Founder of Intelligent Change, Inc. and Co-creator of The Five Minute Journal.
Intelligent Change makes products that make people happier and more productive – cue: The Five Minute Journal and Productivity Planner.
I had been using The Five Minute Journal since its release, motivated by its structure to be more mindful and start every day on a high note. So when UJ mentioned the upcoming launch of the Productivity Planner I was, needless to say, very excited.
The Productivity Planner eliminates days where you have a seemingly growing to-do list, yet end your day feeling like you’ve accomplished absolutely nothing. It puts a stop to procrastination, and revs up focused and intentional bursts of time.
After getting my hands on a Productivity Planner, and realizing I was not only accomplishing my top priorities, but also being more present throughout the day, my next logical move was to sit down with the man himself. I was committed to learning about his thought process behind the relationship between productivity and happiness.
UJ, who started journaling at 19 in an effort to inch closer to his personal and professional goals, was blown away by the impact such a simple practice had on his life. Coming to enjoy and love the practice, he started to notice that society so desperately lacked a system to implement the things that make us happy. Truly believing the foundation of life is happiness, UJ and his Partner, Alex Ikonn, put their heads together to embody a system of simple, daily practices that contribute to leveraging the relationship between productivity and happiness.
I was fortunate to connect with UJ on the topic, and I’m excited to share our conversation with you.
